Transdermal CBD patches may not be your run of the mill, boring CBD product, but they’re making waves, so make sure to bring a surfboard. The main reason for that is their ability to deliver a consistent dose of CBD over extended periods of time. In this article, we dive deep into the wonders of CBD Patches, how they work and where to get them.
CBD Patches: A New Way to Receive Your CBD
If you’ve been shopping for CBD for almost any time at all, you may think you’ve heard about everything. You know, the usual stuff. I’m talking about CBD oils (we’ve got those), topicals (we’ve got those too), gummies, capsules, blah blah blah blah. Listen, it’s not to knock what the industry is doing, because there are obviously some great people behind great brands formulating great CBD products with integrity. It’s just that it seems the products tend to be a bit repetitive. Well, that’s where CBD patches come in.
Instead of ingesting CBD or rubbing it on your skin, CBD patches are plastic or cotton patches that aren’t unlike the band aids you used to put on your scraped knee as a kid. These patches, however, come with a nice layer of CBD that is slowly absorbed through the skin. The best part is that the slow absorption offers long-term relief which can often last all day. You can stick it on the part of your body that needs it most and voila.Â
While this may seem similar to a cream, the thing is that most of the CBD creams you put on your skin are not transdermal. That means they don’t actually penetrate the skin, and as we all know, no one wants a beauty that is only skin deep.Â
Don’t Let the Good Times Roll Off
Another major benefit of CBD patches is that they actually stay on your skin for longer periods of time as well. You may have noticed that the oil or cream you put on your skin rubs off on stuff. Once again, that may be great when that’s the goal. Sometimes quick and easy is better than long and slow, if you catch my drift. Sometimes, however, you don’t want to have to worry (or remember) to reapply a few times throughout the day.Â
The adhesive on the patch is best for long days at work when you’re going to be busy thinking about everything except about yourself. For moms, that literally means all day everyday and twice on Sundays.Â
Not All CBD Patches Are Created Equally
Just like anything else out there on the market, CBD patches have a lot of variety. Couple that with the relative novelty of the product item in itself along with the lack of overall consumer education and it opens the door for imposters to sneak in. While essentially anyone can slap a logo on a box and call it a CBD patch, there are a few things you should look out for.Â
Check The COAs Like You’d Check Your Kid’s New Date
First and foremost, as with any CBD products, always check the third-party testing. Certificates of Analysis (COAs) are your friends, ladies and gentlemen. Their job is to not only check for harmful ingredients such as pesticides, metals and other harmful substances, they also verify that the CBD content of the product is in fact what the company claims it to be. Don’t take that for granted. You’d be surprised how many times I’ve seen a company claim to have such and such mg of CBD only to come back, let’s just say, underperforming.
Dose Ain’t Nothing But a Number?
Um, how much CBD is in that patch? Oh really, it doesn’t say? Can someone say RED FLAG? Believe it or not, this happens all the time as well. There is no information on how much CBD is in each patch, which prevents you, the consumer, from making a proper decision on how long or when to apply your patch, which could lead to a surprise when you need it most.
More Bang For Your Buck
Assuming that the product you’re looking at has an accurate COA and lists how much CBD is in each patch, now how do you know if you’re getting a good deal? Well, the industry standard ranges from 30 to 50 cents per mg of CBD per patch. That means that a 25mg patch is probably going to cost you at least $7.50 per patch. The problem is that patches should really have at least 50mg of CBD in order to have that potency that lasts all day as we talked about earlier. That amount of CBD is usually going to run for $15 a patch and so on and so forth.Â
Where to Buy CBD Patches
Well I’m so glad you asked! Remember that whole bit of a 50mg patch running for anywhere between $15-$25 a patch? Well, you can buy CBD patches right here at Popped.NYC.Â
We carry an extremely potent 100mg patch for $15 a patch when you get a 2-pack and $10 a patch when you get a 6-pack. Not sure if you have a calculator handy, but let me tell you that that price is wayyyyy below industry standards (about 15 and 10 cents a mg, respectively). The quality, however, is not below industry standards as we pride ourselves on transparency and integrity.Â
The best part is that each patch is going to give you about 8-10 hours of relief using our time release technology. Plus, don’t forget you can cut the patch into smaller pieces to get the proper dose for your body at a price that fits too.Â
